Kia Rio - Скици

Kia пусна първите официални скици на новото поколение Rio,
което ще  осъществи европейската си премиера в началото на март на автомобилното изложение в Женева, а началото на продажбите на континента се очаква през август.

2011 Kia Forte reviews

The 2011 Kia Forte ranks 3 out of 32 Affordable Small Cars. Kia succeeded, and the 2010 Forte became a reviewer favorite for its ample cargo space, affordable price and strong list of standard features. For 2011, Kia Forte sedan and Koup models remain largely unchanged. Kia, however, has added another model to the Forte lineup: a five-door hatchback.
The new transmission should improve fuel economy, but Kia nor the EPA have released fuel economy ratings.

In addition to a new transmission, the hatchback is shorter in length than the 2010 Kia Forte sedan and Koup, but it’s still longer than the Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Golf. Some aspects of the five-door hatchback carry over to the 2011sedan and Koup models. The 2011 Kia Forte five-door hatchback will be available this fall, but Kia has not provided a release date for the 2011 Forte sedan and Koup. Unlike the Fiesta and Forte, the Fit is only available as a hatchback.

The 2011 Kia Forte has three model options: a sedan, Koup and a five-door hatchback--Kia hasn’t released pricing information for the 2011 models.
At the leading edge, along with the Forte, are the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze and 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

The Cruze is a roomy compact, almost mid-size by some gauges, and it has top-notch safety along with a new fuel-efficient 1.4-liter turbocharged engine; the new Hyundai Elantra also promises to be a top contender, with 40-mpg highway ratings across the model line.
Bluetooth and steering-wheel controls with voice activation aren't standard on most of these other models, but they are on the Forte—even the base LX model.

Kia Soul Hamstar Concept

Remember those cool hamsters in Kia Soul commercials? The Kia Soul Hamster features a custom red and black color scheme, highlighted by a “star” graphic with the signature Hamstar script logo on the hood and off-black matte finish stripes on the sides. The interior is also redesigned with red/black sport cloth seat materials with black chenille stars affixed to the back side of the front headrests.

The "Kia Soul Hamstar Concept" puts the Korean brand's furry rappers from the Soul's advertisements front and center at the 2010 SEMA Show — and even gives a nod to the line of Hamstar clothing.

Exterior cues include black gloss and polished aluminum sport wheels. The black cabin gets black chenille stars on the backs of the front headrests.

The Kia Soul Hamstar Concept leads a pack of Kia vehicles into the SEMA show.

The Kia Soul White Tiger Concept is a precursor of the Soul White Tiger, which will go on sale in "the coming weeks," said Kia in a statement.

The Soul White Tiger Concept is inspired by "this year's Asian Lunar year animal — the Tiger," the Korean automaker said. Other details include white-finish 18-inch alloy wheels, a rear bumper cat claw appliqué and sport spoiler.

The Kia Forte Koup Type R Concept at the SEMA Show hints at "future production vehicle applications," said Kia in a statement.

SEMA 2010, KIA Forte Koup Type R.

It seems that the Koreans also like this name, recently used for the concept presented at SEMA 2010, KIA Forte Koup Type R.

For now, KIA Forte is doing well on the North American market, so it couldn’t have missed the biggest tunning auto show in USA, SEMA 2010, where the Koreans came with the KIA Forte Koup Type R Concept.

KIA Forte Koup Type R Concept was developed in a collaboration with their racing partner, Kinetic Motorsports, which handles the KIA Forte Koup models, competing in GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

The interior of the KIA Forte Koup Type R Concept benefits from the racing treatment, with sports seats, carbon insertions and new pedals and gear shifter.
We are talking about the Kia Koup Type R Concept.

This is a project inspired by Kia’s racing vehicles that take part in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, also being offered as a study that demonstrates Kia vehicles’ tuning potential.

“Developed by Kinetic Motorsports, who built and campaigns Kia's Forte Koup race cars, the Type R features dramatically enhanced exterior panels that exaggerate the existing body lines, including the front fenders, rocker panels and rear quarter panels,” stated the press release.

The vehicle rides on BBS RG 18-inch forged aluminum alloy rims, using motorsport-inspired tires, as well as a racing suspension.

Kia Motors America (KMA) said it rolled out its attention-grabbing lineup of concept and production-intent vehicles at the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas to further showcase the company’s eye-catching new generation of vehicles.

“A combination of value, safety and technology with plentiful standard equipment, the 2011 Soul White Tiger takes design cues from this year’s Asian Lunar year animal – the Tiger – and dramatically combines an all-white exterior with one-of-a-kind tiger-themed graphics and a contrasting jet black leather interior.

“Soul White Tiger Concept builds off of the Soul+ (plus) model with fog lamps, body coloured bumpers, sport spoiler, black fender vents, rear bumper cat claw appliqué, alloy fuel door and features white-finish 18-inch alloy wheels to complete its expressive look. On the inside, the Soul White Tiger will captivate its passengers with its push-button start, black leather seating surfaces and heated front seats. “A true game-changer for the Kia brand, the Soul was the first vehicle launched under KMA’s ongoing design-led transformation and kicked off the most aggressive new vehicle launch cycle in the automotive industry, which continues through 2011.

Kia’s model year 2011 vehicle line includes the Sorento CUV, Sportage compact CUV, Optima midsize sedan, Soul urban passenger vehicle, Forte compact sedan, Forte 5-door compact hatchback, Forte Koup two-door coupe, Rio sub-compact sedan, Rio5 sub-compact hatchback and Sedona minivan,” he said.

kia sportage 2011 test drive

The new 2011 Kia Sportage is no exception with its all-new exterior and interior, and drivetrain upgrades.
The latest Sportage sits on a unibody platform that is 3.5 inches longer than its predecessor.

Design is one area where almost everyone felt Kia did a magnificent job, with multiple judges proclaiming the Sportage the best-looking vehicle in this year's field.
Luxury? The 2011 Kia Sportage EX Luxury is, well, pretty darned luxurious.
For a less-than-luxurious $33,145, my nearly-loaded 2011 Kia Sportage tester came with such luxury features as a power panoramic sun roof that fills the passenger compartment with light; 18-inch alloy wheels with P235/55R18 inch all-season tires; LED daytime running lights, fog lights and projector beam head lights; integrated turn signals in the side mirrors; chrome door handles; leather seating surfaces, heated up front and power adjustable for the driver; dual-zone automatic climate control; six-speaker audio system with auxiliary and USB input and iPod cable, and Sirius satellite radio-ready; tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio controls; auto-dimming rear-view mirror with Homelink garage door opener and rear view back-up camera; cargo area lighting, cargo cover and luggage net; and “smart key” pushbutton ignition. All-wheel drive is standard equipment at this level.

How about alloy wheels?
How about alloy wheels? No steel wheels with plastic covers available on this car. You also get the same audio system, with the same number of speakers and the same modern device connectivity and steering wheel-mounted controls as the EX Luxury buyer. Power door locks, power windows, remote keyless entry, cruise control, power heated side mirrors, air conditioning, and automatic light control are all standard.
But as if that wasn’t enough, every Kia Sportage includes features that are often found only on luxury nameplates or top trim lines of its competitors – fog lights, heated front seats and windshield wiper deicer. You don’t have to opt for leather seating to get heated front seats. If you want navigation and upgraded audio, you have to buy the EX Luxury trim to get it.

kia pop concept

The radical Kia Pop concept, a three-seat electric vehicle with a polarizing design theme, will debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. The Kia Pop enters far riskier design territory than the Kia Ray plug-in hybrid sedan that debuted earlier this year at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show.
Kia is not yet revealing the Pop's specifications.
earlier this week motoring company kia announced their 'pop concept', a new three-seat
car which will be unveiled at the paris motor show on september 30, 2010.

unconventional LED head and tail lights
are also employed for a zero-emissions concept that kia says 'brings design chic and dramatic
styling to the city car segment'.

With its angled, pill-shaped side windows, a windscreen running to the back of the car and capsule-like cabin, the three-metre-long Pop took its influence more from industrial design than cars.

Two cameras positioned low under the usual wing mirror spot will perform their function, projecting images into the car

According to Schreyer, the electric car will go the route of the computer, with people increasing buying on innovative design rather than just on power figures.

The Pop was the halo car for a new range of EcoDynamics cars Kia displayed, including a 75bhp 1.4-litre diesel version of the Venga that emits 114g/km of CO2.

Kia showed a battery-only Venga concept at Geneva this year and is working on a pure battery car.

2011 Kia Sorento review

The 2011 Kia Sorento straddles the line between compact and midsize SUVs. Though the Sorento can cost more than $29,000 if you opt for the highest trim, a modestly equipped base model is quite a good value. Kia estimates the new Sorento’s base fuel economy at 21/29 mpg city/highway. So far, test drivers say the all-new Sorento has few faults. Just remember that you won’t be getting the Sorento’s excellent warranty coverage.

Since the Sorento can be compared to both compact and midsize SUVs, buyers should shop both classes. Since the RAV4 and Sorento are so similar, it’s best to test drive them both.

It’s technically a midsize SUV, but it actually starts at almost $2,000 less than the Sorento.

The 2011 "Kia Sorento" is a crossover SUV offered in three trim levels: base, LX and EX. A third-row 50/50-split-folding seat with room for two is optional on the LX and four-cylinder EX, and standard on the EX V6.

A rear-seat DVD entertainment system is available on EX V6 models without the sunroof.

All Sorento trim levels come standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 175 horsepower and 169 pound-feet of torque. The base model has a six-speed manual transmission, while the others get a six-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard across the board, while LX and EX models are eligible for all-wheel drive. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city/29 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and the automatic. Fuel economy stands at 20/26/22 with front-wheel drive and 19/25/21 with all-wheel drive.

The 2011 Kia Sorento comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability control, hill-start assist, hill descent control, front seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front active head restraints.

It doesn't slide fore and aft without the optional third-row seat (standard on EX V6), meaning the Sorento's not quite as versatile as an Equinox, CR-V or RAV4.

Like the RAV4, the 2011 Kia Sorento is a tale of two engines. At highway speeds, the Sorento's cabin remains impressively isolated from both road and wind noise. We're also fond of the Sorento's handling ability, as this crossover responds directly to steering inputs.

Kia Pro Cee’D VR7 Kia Cee’D Special Editions

Kia has created low-priced special edition versions of the cee'd hatchback and its three-door equivalent, the pro_cee'd, and given both of them the name VR-7.

the VR-7s are cheaper than the current entry-level models in each range, though they do come with a reasonable amount of equipment as standard: 16" alloy wheels, air-conditioning, front electric windows, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity, six audio speakers, body-coloured door mirrors which are also heated and electrically controlled, and leather on the steering wheel, gearlever and handbrake gaiters and front armrest.

Electronic stability control, Hill Start Assist and Vehicle Stability Management are standard on both VR-7 models, improving safety credentials.

The VR7 treatment is available in 1.4 petrol manual models for both cars and features 16inch Style ‘A’ Alloys, and body colour, heated and electronically controlled door mirror.
Electronic Stability Control with Hill Start Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Management are standard on the VR-7 models that now meet Euro-5 emission standards.
VR-7 Special Edition is priced from £11,695 for the pro_cee’d while the 1.4 cee’d VR-7 Special Edition starts from £11,995.

2011 Kia Optima Test Drive

If the Optima were a farmer, its standard-equipment crop would be bountiful. A dual exhaust with chrome tips; turn signals integrated into the mirror housings a sound system with Sirius satellite radio and USB, auxiliary, and Bluetooth connectivity; a tilting and telescoping steering wheel; and power locks and windows are all standard on the base LX model. The rear seat splits 60/40 and folds, and all automatic models come with cruise control.2011 Kia Optima Test Drive

Three trim levels are primarily differentiated on the outside by their wheel sizes. LX models wear 16s, EXs get 17s, and the big-dog SX rolls on 18s. To the LX’s gear, the EX adds fog lights, heated outside mirrors, body-color door handles, a little more chrome pizzazz, a rearview camera, push-button ignition, dual-zone climate control, and Kia’s new Uvo vehicle-interface system developed with Microsoft.

Spring for the SX, and you’ll net HID headlights, LED taillights, and an LCD information screen tucked into the instrument panel. The SX also is set apart with a unique appearance, thanks to a separate grille design, exclusive rocker moldings, a lip spoiler, and red brake calipers. Inside is French-stitched black leather, with metal pedals and paddle shifters to make the driver feel faster.

While the look is thoroughly overhauled, don’t expect pricing to change much. When the new Optima goes on sale in early fall of 2010, the sticker should stay close to today’s range of $18,000 to $23,000.

Regardless, in the hyper-competitive mid-size-sedan market, Kia has nothing to lose and everything to gain by turning its milquetoast Optima into something other than what it is today.
2011 Kia Optima Test Drive video test

Right now Kia is busy at this year’s New York auto show, for debut of the redesigned Sportage, the new Forte hatchback, and the all-new Optima sedan detailed here. While preliminary sketches suggested an Optima with a hot-rod chop to the roof, the production version has less-severe proportions and windows out of which people can actually see. Longer (by 1.7 inches), lower (by an inch), and wider (by 0.9 inch) than the outgoing car, the Optima forms a much more dramatic shape than the model it replaces, yet its shape is not as commanding as that of its platform-mate, Hyundai’s suddenly smokin’ Sonata.

Optima design isn’t quite as sultry as the Sonata’s, the powertrains will be precisely as stimulating, because they’ll be shared. A direct-injection, 2.4-liter inline-four is the standard engine, available in the base LX trim with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. A direct-injection, turbocharged four is the hot mill, with a whopping 274 horses from just 2.0 liters. Sadly, that engine will only be available with the automatic. And like the Sonata, the Optima will yield a hybrid option early in 2011. The suspension, too, is shared with the Sonata, with MacPherson struts, coil springs, and an anti-roll bar up front and a multilink setup with coils in back.

kia sportage 2011 offers an excellent driving position

kia sportage 2011 offers an excellent driving position

The average Canadian tends to be southerly-minded when it comes to planning a trip away, but Kia went the opposite direction in previewing their latest kia sportage 2011 offers an excellent driving position for selected automotive journalists. Kia's building an identity, too - and they called upon Peter Schreyer, formerly of VW/Audi, to head up the design work that would help pull it off. In all, thanks to Kia's 'value through styling' ideology, the new Sportage's looks hit harder than its pricing might suggest.

kia sportage 2011 offers an excellent driving position cabin gets a depthy and upscale-look, adult-friendly rear seats, and a healthy, easily-accessible cargo hold at the rear.

If you like free goodies, the Bluetooth interface, wheel-mounted audio controls, iPod connector and driver computer fitted to all models should adequately compensate.

Aside from the segment-standard airbags and ABS, kia sportage 2011 offers an excellent driving position offers advanced rollover protection systems and an advanced, intelligent Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system across the lineup.

All said, given the Sportage's competitive pricing, it hits hard where style, utility and, perhaps surprisingly, sportiness are concerned. The 2011 kia Sportage is landing on dealer lots now.

2011 Kia Sportage EX AWD
BASE PRICE: $18,295 for base model; $20,295 for LX 2WD; $21,795 for LX AWD; $23,295 for EX 2WD; $24,795 for EX AWD.
MILEAGE: 21 mpg (city), 28 mpg (highway).
LENGTH: 174.8 inches.

Kia owes its success both to the improved quality of its products and to the fact that they are offering highly competitive vehicles in the most popular categories in Canada: compact cars and compact SUVs, segments that represent 40% of the market. With the arrival of the new generation Sportage, Kia’s making another big splash and this new vehicle may very well do nothing less than solidify the manufacturer’s new aspirations.

Style that gets noticed
The compact SUV segment is definitely one of the most competitive segments right now, with many manufacturers offering excellent vehicles. The new Sportage represents a radical departure from the previous generation. Under the hood, the 2011 kia Sportage has a four-cylinder engine featuring 176 hp for a torque of 168 lbs-ft and can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission in the two-wheel drive version, while the all-wheel drive version adopts a six-speed automatic.

With only a slightly higher price, it’s hard not to recommend the all-wheel drive, which is the main reason for buying such a vehicle. Forget the previous generation’s six year old passenger compartment. On board, the kia sportage 2011 offers an excellent driving position. The large hatch also facilitates loading larger items and there’s a very generous cargo space, a feature maximized with the larger dimensions of the new Sportage.

The engine offers good output and more than sufficient power. Its excellent torque in low gear favours pick-up and passing manoeuvres.

My first impression of Kia’s all-new Forte: it’s a hit. The Kia Forte’s a cheap (as in inexpensive), safe, somewhat stylish, fuel-efficient sedan that transports up to four adults in perfect comfort, without driving like a penalty box. Design may not be the Forte’s forte, but it’s got the whole non-objectionability thing nailed nailed. Kia’s California design studio crafted a car where cleanliness cozies-up to divinity. The Forte’s tall greenhouse provides plenty of glass; a welcome change from the current trend for rising beltlines (and plunging sight lines).

The Forte’s front fenders have flair, albeit with a clear Mazda influence. The Forte’s cabin is as simple and inviting as the Fairmont hotel’s restrooms. The Forte’s steering wheel offers an attractive symmetry, the right grippable thickness, and a soft, leather-like polymer covering that’s easy on the palms.

On the road, the Kia Forte moves with more enthusiasm than you’d expect from a 156-horse, 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine. Bottom line: the Forte EX’s powertrain is more than sufficiently spirited for suburban driving and quite capable of drama-free passing maneuvers on two-lane highways.

Thanks to a well-sorted suspension and modestly aggressive 16-inch rubber, the Kia’s handling is poised and . . . poised. Nanny rides shotgun. Alas, you can’t switch of the electronic stability control system in the Forte EX. When flung through a series of very tight esses (flung I tell you!), my test Forte remained flat and composed. Unfortunately, the Forte EX’s engine goes all Suicidal Tendency (i.e., thrashy) at anything above 4000 rpm.

The Forte’s suspension tuning needs some, perhaps any, refinement. On frost heaves and worn concrete pavement joints, the Forte feels loose, hard riding and crashy, even at moderate speeds

Value. The Forte features a lengthy list of standard equipment, including Bluetooth, the aforementioned electronic stability and brake-force distribution, anti-lock brakes and a tire monitoring system. The Forte is a three-base hit for Kia
